Our Nitinol products include Ingot, bar, wire, plate, sheet, coil, ribbon. Our experience in researching shape memory alloys can be traced back to 1980.

The company was established in 1998.

GEE SMA only engaged in development, design, production and sales of nitinol raw materials and nitinol actuator.

Nitinol Materials

Nitinol materials are available in wire, strip, sheet, tubing, and bar for high-volume production needs. GEE SMA’s nitinol raw materials, mainly nitinol wires, are mainly used in the industrial and medical fields.

Shape Memory Alloys are special functional material alloys that show super-elasticity or shape memory effects at different temperatures.

We offer 7 categories over 20 different nickel titanium alloy codes from binary to quaternary alloys.

Niti SMA formulations exhibit Af from -5 °C up to +350 °C.

1. Body Temperature Nickel Titanium Alloys (SE+SM5065, SE+SM507 ELI)

Alloys have superelasticity and shape memory effect at Body Temperature. (ASTM F2063)

2. Superelastic Nickel Titanium Alloys at room temperature (SE508/SE508 ELI)

Alloys having rich Nickel binary NiTi alloy so that they are superelastic at room temperature when they are cold processed and superelastic aging heat treatment.

3. High Strength Nickel Titanium Alloys (SE510)

Alloys having higher Nickel Titanium Alloy so that they are superelastic at room temperature with higher superelastic plateau stresses.

4. Superelastic Nickel Titanium Alloys at Low Temperature (SE NiTiCr/NiTiV)

Superelastic NiTiCr/NiTiV alloys containing up to 0.3-0.5% chromium/vanadium to deduce the transformation temperature and chromium can can improve strength.

5. Copper NiTi Based Alloy(Copper NiTi /Copper NiTiCr )

The addition of Copper in NiTi alloy suppresses the sensitivity of the alloy transformation temperature Ms to the composition, significantly narrowing the phase transition hysteresis (around 4 ℃). Therefore, Copper NiTi alloy responds quickly to temperature fields and can be used to make sensitive components with high response frequencies.

6. Binary Nickel Titanium Shape Memory Alloy (SM498~SM505)

Alloys having rich titanium binary NiTi memory alloy or Copper NiTi alloy ternary NiTi alloys or Copper NiTiCr alloy quaternary NiTi alloy so that they are martensite after cold drawing and heat treating for shape setting. After deformation in the martensite, they will recover shape upon heating through transformation temperature to the austenite.

7. Ternary Nickel Titanium Alloy (NiTiNb/NiTiFe/NiTiHf)

GEE SMA also offers ternary, quaternary formulations. The most commonly used are listed below.

NiTiNb is a ternary wide hysteresis alloy suitable for mechanical and aerospace engineering applications. Changing the content of Nb element (1%-30%) can also be used in the field of low-temperature super elasticity.

NiTiFe is a ternary low temperature NiTi alloy suitable for mechanical and aerospace engineering applications, with Fe to reduce transformation temperature and improve cold work-ability.

NiTiHf is a ternary high temperature NiTi alloy suitable for high temperature actuation systems. This family of alloys is developed for actuation temperatures above 120° C.

Nitinol Wire---Diameter from 0.05 mm (0.002 in) and up

Nitinol Flat Wire---Minimum thickness is 0.1 mm [0.0039 in]

Nitinol Rod---From 5.50 to 94.0 mm [0.218 to 3.70 in.] in diameter or thickness

Nitinol Sheet---from 0.10 to 5.50mm in thickness

Nitinol Plate—from 5.50 to 94.0 mm in thickness, with a width ≥ five times the thickness

Nitinol Foil---0.05mm up to 0.10mm [ 0.002 to 0.004 in.] in thickness

Delivery Condition:Cold Drawn or Cold Drawn+Straight Annealed

Surface finishes:

Black Oxide is black color,the typical wire diamond drawing process surface.

Light Oxide is brown or blue color,often chosen for medical devices, can be easily removed by electropolishing or etching .

Pickled is chemical removal of oxide layer.

Mechanically Polished is metallic shiny surface.

Nitinol Ingot

Niti Alloy melting is the most critical process step.

We commonly used 3 different melting methods,VIM(Graphite crucible), VIM(oxide crucible) and VAR.

The niti alloy melted using VIM has a uniform composition, with strict requirements for transformation temperature.

VIM(Graphite crucible) has better elasticity and VIM(oxide crucible) has better fatigue resistance.

The niti alloy melted using VAR is only suitable for superelastic niti alloys with less stringent temperature requirements, but not for shape memory application with strict requirements for transformation temperature.

Nitinol Rods

Rods are made by hot rolling and/or cold working and heat treating to be superelastic or shape memory effects.

Rods are offered after centerless grinding.

Dimension: Round Rods and flats from 5.50 to 94.0 mm [0.218 to 3.70 in.] in diameter or thickness.

Feature and Application of Nitinol Rods

Only nitinol materials that have undergone cold deformation can exhibit good super elasticity and memory properties. Cold deformation is easy for nitinol wire, but it is difficult for nitinol rods.

We can provide nitinol rod with over 30% cold deformation.

Nitinol rods are mainly used for damping rods and large driving components.

Nitinol Sheet & Nitinol Plate

Nitinol Sheet:from 0.10 to 5.50mm in thickness

Nitinol Plate—from 5.50 to 94.0 mm in thickness, with a width equal to or greater than five times the thickness.

Application

² Medical Nitinol Sheet is mainly used in orthopedic implants, such as super elastic orthodontic hardware.

² Nitinol Plate is mainly used for target materials.

Nitinol Foil & Nitinol Strip

Application

Nitinol foil is mainly used as materials for driving components.

Nitinol strip is currently mainly used for research in universities and research institutions.

Nitinol Muscle Wire

1. Nitinol muscle wire is also named as nitinol actuator wire, shape memory actuator wire, SMA linear actuator, nitinol linear actuator, Linear 2-way actuator wire.

2. Four types of nitinol muscle wire: Active Af 70C, 90C, 110C, and 130 C,

110and 130 is our new products.

3. Diameter: from 0.039 in. [ 0.10mm] to 0.024in. [0.60mm]

4. Two-way shape memory effect

Nitinol muscle wire is mainly used for electronic locks and can generate contraction reactions after being powered on, also used for switches in phone camera and toys, replacing motors, robotics etc.

Nitinol Spring

Nitinol Paper clip

1. Three types of Nitinol Paper clip

Shape memory nitinol paper clip: It will return to its original shape when placed in hot water above 50 degrees Celsius.

Super elastic nitinol paper clip: It has better elasticity than ordinary metal paper clips and is not easily deformed.

Magic nitinol paper clip:It will return to its original shape simply by placing it in the palm of your hand.

Nitinol Engine

1. Form of nitinol engine: two wheels of different diameters and a nitinol wire loop

2. Rotation conditions : Place the small wheel in hot water above 50 degrees Celsius and expose the large wheel to an environment below 30 degrees Celsius.

The temperature can also be adjusted according to customer requirements.

3. Application: Science museums display product or give as gifts to science enthusiasts or curious people.

Nitinol Flower

1. Production method of nitinol flower: nitinol foil with a thickness of 0.05-0.10mm→two way shape memory treatment

2.The conditions for the blooming and closing of nitinol flowers:

At room temperature, the nitinol flower is closed.

When you exhale at the flowers up close, it will immediately bloom.

When placed in the warm palm of your hand, flowers will slowly bloom.

This magical effect can be achieved without the need for electric hair dryers or hot water.
